Six Norwegians explore local cave

Six Norwegians enjoying a one-day stop in Warren County were treated to a tour of Cumberland Caverns on Monday courtesy of McMinnville’s Rotary and Breakfast Rotary clubs.
The six Norwegians were from all walks of life. The group included a member of the Norwegian military, a secondary school teacher, a police officer, a real estate broker, an investment planner, and a business owner in the meat industry.
They were in McMinnville as they were traveling between Cookeville and Tullahoma during their stay in America.
“The symbol of Rotary is the wheel so we wanted to be a spoke in the wheel and help out when we could,” said Rotary Club president Dan Bryant. “Being from Norway, they didn’t have a lot of cave experience so this was something new to them.”
Bryant said it was a fascinating group. All six members were bilingual so communication was not a problem. He said one of the group members had visited 65 countries.
The six came to the United States as part of a Rotary International group study exchange program.
As for lasting impressions, Bryant said he has one. “They were all really tall,” he said.
