Police chief charged as public drunk

PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. (AP) — Pleasant View's police chief is charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest after police were called to an Applebee's restaurant in Springfield. The Tennessean reports the report of an intoxicated man annoying other customers at the bar came at about 12:26 a.m. Sunday. According to police, Michael Douglas had difficulty keeping his balance, was speaking incoherently and was dropping things from his wallet.
