Two barbecue bandits were collared after police followed the trail from where they pulled a grill stolen from the middle school baseball field to their nearby home.
The suspects, Devin Clay Reavis, 18, and Thomas R. Turner, 19, are both charged with burglary and theft for the crime which happened within shouting distance of Turner’s home on Caldwell Street.
According to police reports, the concession stand at the Warren County Middle School baseball field was burglarized. The field is located next to Nunley Stadium on Caldwell Street.
Several items were taken during the burglary, including a microwave, drinks, chips, a coffee pot, an assortment of candy bars, and a propane grill. It was the grill which led to their prompt apprehension since it left a trail as it was being moved right to Turner’s residence.
“We followed drag marks made by the grill from the building to a residence on Caldwell Street,” McMinnville policeman Brad Hall said in his warrant against the two, noting the stolen items were then found in Turner’s possession.
