Marijuana eater charged

A man faces evidence tampering charges after he tried to eat evidence against him during a traffic stop.
The suspect, William Cordell Miller, 27, is charged with possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence. He will face a hearing on the charges next month.
Miller was stopped by McMinnville Police Sgt. Ben Cantrell, who knew there was an outstanding warrant for violation of probation against Miller. The suspect drove slowly for a while until he pulled over in a parking lot on Faulkner Springs Road.
“He appeared to be eating something and he would not open his mouth,” Cantrell observed, noting he ordered the suspect to spit out what he had in his mouth. “He would not comply, but did spit out several small pieces of green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana.”
The suspect eventually opened his mouth enough for the officer to see a large amount of marijuana inside his mouth but he did not let the lawmen get it out.
“He swallowed the remaining marijuana he had in his mouth,” Cantrell said in his warrant.
