A man faces rape charges after he allegedly fondled a friend’s teen-age daughter while her mother was gone.
The suspect, Chad Everett Davis, was indicted recently by the Warren County grand jury on charges of rape and sexual battery by an authority figure. He could face eight to 12 on the rape charge and three to six on the authority figure count. He faces a May 27 plea or assignment date and a June 4 trial date should he opt to take his case before a jury. He is being represented by local attorney, Larry Ross.
According to McMinnville Police Detective Todd Rowland, police became involved in the case after the teen-age victim reported to a family member that she had been molested by Davis.
During the investigation that followed her report, Rowland said he learned the inappropriate touching happened while the girl’s mother was away on a trip. Davis, who was a family friend, was at the girl’s residence.
The contact, which reportedly happened one time, involved unwanted touching of a private body part.
“The defendant intentionally touched the intimate parts or the clothing covering the immediate area of the victim’s intimate parts,” the indictment reads.
The rape charge comes because the touching was not consensual. The sexual battery by an authority figure comes because Davis was in a position of trust.
“At the time of the alleged sexual contact, he was in a position of trust and used said position of trust to accomplish the sexual contact,” the indictment reads.
