A man charged with a variety of offenses – including stealing four-wheelers, delivering morphine, and possessing a handgun as a convicted felon – was given 150 days in jail.
James Wesley Thrower was given three separate 150-day sentences by Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley, but was allowed to serve them all at the same time for a 150-day total.
By virtue of his plea agreement, Thrower had four charges dismissed, including the charge of unlawful possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Thrower’s trouble began in May 2010 when he was among a group of three men charged with stealing two four-wheelers and one motorcycle from Smartt’s Scooters on Manchester Highway. Jeffery Lynn Roberts and Robbie C. Ward were the other two indicted on that occasion. The three vehicles were valued over $1,000, but under $10,000. Also reported stolen were hats and facemasks.
Also in May 2010, Thrower was indicted by the grand jury for possession of meth and delivery of morphine.
Three months later in August 2010, police answered a shoplifting call at Kroger and found Thrower getting into his pickup in relation to that call. Police were given permission to search the vehicle and found a loaded 357 revolver, two bags of meth, and 15 hydrocodone pills, according to the police report.
Long list of charges results in 150 days
