A 23-year-old woman lost her life in the early morning hours Thursday when her vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
According to the Highway Patrol, Brittany S. Moran was killed in the single-car crash that took place at 1:30 a.m.
The accident happened on Harrison Ferry Road as Moran was traveling toward McMinnville. The report says her 2005 Pontiac was traveling on the wrong side of the road just before the crash.
"For some unknown reason, the driver lost control," said state trooper Rodney Whiles in his report. "At this point the vehicle left the roadway and went airborne down an embankment. A tree then impacted the vehicle in the area of the driver's side door."
Trooper Whiles said Moran was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moran was not wearing a seatbelt, but Whiles noted a seatbelt likely would not have made a difference in this crash.
