A felony assault charge has been leveled against a man who allegedly nearly ran over his wife with a vehicle while their 2-year-old son sat near the driveway.
The husband, Tyler N. Klasek, 30, is charged with aggravated assault, child endangerment and violating an order or protection.
According to the victim’s version of events to police, the incident began when Mr. Klasek showed up at a White Street residence where his wife was to deliver some diapers. The woman said she walked outside with her young son and placed him in the front seat while she was getting the diapers.
“He became irate and started grabbing her and pushing her,” said McMinnville police officer Katelyn Neal of the victim’s recollection. “He then picked up the child and placed it on the ground while he grabbed (his wife) by her leg and began driving the vehicle down the driveway while she was hanging out the truck door.”
At some point, the victim says she fell down and was nearly run over. “She fell and was under the truck when a witness drove up and honked his horn,” the officer noted, adding Mr. Klasek then drove off.
The victim’s story was bolstered by marks on her side and back. She was also wet from where she had fallen to the ground.
Police learned during their investigation Klasek was in violation of an order of protection set against him by his wife.
