Volunteers are needed again for work on River Trail East beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23. The group will meet at the end of Sally’s Alley off Beersheba Street.
Some volunteers will bring hand clippers, loppers, pruning saws and chainsaws to cut privet from the trail corridor. Others will gather up the cut brush, carry it away and stack it. Some adult volunteers will apply herbicide to the stumps. Others will load and carry wood chips to spread on the tread way of the trail.
If you can, bring yard rakes, shovels, lawn carts and wheel barrows. The group can also use lawn tractors with trailers. A front-end loader will be needed. Bring your tools or come and use those available.
Everyone should bring gloves, water and snacks, as desired. No open shoes please. The work is sponsored by the Greenway Council and the city of McMinnville. All adults will need to sign a waiver of liability. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent-signed waiver.
For more information, or if you have a front-end loader, call Wally Bigbee at 473-5968.
