If a tree falls during a Main Street Live concert, does it make any noise?
That's a rhetorical question officials at Security Federal want to avoid. That's why they had two trees removed last week from the West Lawn of Security Federal, the site of the Main Street Live summer concert series.
"Ever since we've been doing Main Street Live, we've had an arborist come in and look at these trees once a year," said Security Federal president Joe Pugh. "When he inspected the trees this time, he said there were two that needed to be removed so that's what we're doing."
Pugh said reports Security Federal was having all the trees cut down are false. To the contrary, he said the bank has taken an active role in maintaining the health of the trees so they can provide shade to those attending concerts in June and July. He doesn't want any limbs to fall on spectators while they're enjoying a show.
Even with the two trees removed, Pugh said plenty of shade remains. With stump grinding and re-sodding, he doubts anyone would have ever noticed the trees as missing had they not seen them being cut down.
