Be prepared for some brilliant colors Friday night when Dr Pepper Bottling Company lights up the sky with its annual fireworks show at Milner Recreation Center.

McMinnville Police Lt. Bill Davis would like to remind motorists the Police Department will be directing traffic around the area again this year.

“We will be rerouting traffic again this year,” said Lt. Davis. “Traffic rerouting has been used for years to make sure an emergency lane is available in case someone needs medical attention. It has always worked well.”

Vehicles will be directed counter-clockwise on the four streets around Milner Recreation Center beginning at 7 p.m. The traffic pattern will continue until traffic has left the area following the 9 p.m. show.

Parking is available in parking lots of the Rec Center and along some side streets once the show begins, provided there’s room for emergency vehicles.

A large crowd is always expected and motorists are urged to drive slowly and use caution due to the high volume of pedestrians. Caution is also urged on back streets approaching the area since many people walk from nearby streets.

“We want everyone to enjoy the fireworks display and have a safe, happy Fourth of July,” said Davis.

As always, private fireworks are prohibited at the show site and violators may be cited by McMinnville Police Department.
