A man with a taste for Taco Bell will have to pay a high price for his craving after he slammed his hand through a restaurant window when he couldn’t get in.
The man, Charles Thomas Lawson, 34, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to the charge of vandalism and was placed on probation for six months. He will also be required to make restitution in the amount of $1,320. He has been banned from Taco Bell.
Police say Lawson got angry when he arrived at the Taco Bell on Smithville Highway and was not able to go inside.
“He discovered the lobby was closed for walk-in customers,” said McMinnville police detective Nicole Mosley, noting he arrived at 10:23 p.m., and only the drive-thru was open. “After beating on the door in an attempt to get the staff to let him in, he became angered and ran his fist through a large glass panel, breaking the entire section.”
Lawson fled but was stopped by police on Sparta Street where evidence of his involvement was found.
“He was discovered to have injuries to his right arm,” Mosley said, adding he was treated at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital's emergency room.
