A motorcycle rider was killed Saturday in Grundy County during a collision with an SUV.
According to a report from the Tennessee High-way Patrol, Monteagle resident Bryan Schaerer, 62, was killed Saturday afternoon while traveling on Highway 41 in Pelham. His motorcycle passenger, Waltraud Spradlin, 60, of Monteagle was injured.
The Highway Patrol says Stacy Elam, 36, of McMinnville was driving a Nissan Armada that collided with the motorcycle.
Elam was reportedly leaving a stopped position on Highway 50 eastbound when she made a U-turn onto Highway 41. The report states she failed to see the motorcycle, which was traveling north on Highway 41.
Impact was made in the southbound lane of Highway 41. The SUV and motorcycle traveled a short distance into the right turning lane of Highway 50.
The motorcycle came to rest against a concrete curve on the edge of the lane.
No charges or citations have been leveled at this time, according to the report furnished Tuesday by the Highway Patrol.
