A repeat offender who ran from a deputy on his motorcycle was given three years in prison for his lengthy criminal history.
Sandy N. Stembridge, 52, received the sentence, to serve as a Range 2 offender because of his record, for evading arrest with a motor vehicle, driving on a suspended license fourth offense, and violation of the registration law.
His charges stem from an incident in April when sheriff’s deputy Jared Jacobs observed him traveling 64 mph on West Green Hill Road, which is a 45 mph road.
Jacobs attempted to pull over the driver. Mr. Stembridge refused to stop and led him on a pursuit that ended when the motorcycle left the roadway and entered a wooded area behind a home.
A foot pursuit began.
According to the arrest warrant, “Jacobs had to exit his patrol vehicle and engage in a foot pursuit with the motorcyclist in the wooded area. After chasing the subject for several hundred yards, he caught Stembridge and placed him under arrest.”
A driver’s license check revealed Stembridge has a suspended license. He has one prior offense in Rutherford County in 2014, and two prior offenses in Van Buren County in 2014.
Stembridge was given four months credit for time he served in jail from April until his sentencing last week.
