Local resident Rachel Kirby is now a McMinnville alderman.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen appointed her to fill a two-year term Tuesday night. It was a unanimous decision.
The vacancy was made available when McMinnville Mayor Jimmy Haley was elected Warren County Executive. When Haley resigned, that left Vice Mayor Ben Newman to ascend to his role as mayor.
The remaining six board members were left to appoint someone to fill the vacant spot on the seven-member board. Kirby will serve a two-year term before she is eligible for election.
There are three city alderman seats up for election in November, those seats currently held by Ryle Chastain, Steve Harvey and Everett Brock.
