Park Theater again open for rental

Members of the advisory board will provide non-binding strategic advice regarding Park Theater and the events offered there.

Park Theater has reopened.

McMinnville’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen gave no opposition to Park Theater manager Kevin Roberts reopening the facility for upcoming rentals.

“We don’t have any events scheduled for June,” said Roberts. “The first event we have scheduled is a rental, Paula’s Dance Academy on July 25. Instead of having one complete dance recital, she wants to do it by class so that way it takes the percentage of attendance down quite a bit. Also, Cannon Arts is doing the same thing on its recital on Aug. 22.”

Two concerts are scheduled for August: A Tribute to Patsy Cline on Aug. 8, and Shake, Rattle and Roll on Aug. 29. Both concerts are rentals.

“I think we would certainly be able to distance people during those,” said Roberts. “If needed, we could put people on the mezzanine. We could also open the balcony if anyone wants to remain further away from everybody else.”

Concession workers will be instructed to wear masks and gloves.

“If you have any issues with a rental request, don’t allow it,” said Mayor Ben Newman.

Alderman Everett Brock added, “Take them one at a time and evaluate as each comes up.”

“We will certainly follow any changes the governor recommends and adjust accordingly,” said Roberts.

Tickets for the Patsy Cline tribute on Aug. 8 are $12.50. They can be purchased at the Park Theater box office or by calling 931-607-9462 or 931-273-4552. Caring Hearts United, a nonprofit organization that provides care baskets to hospice patients, is holding the concert as a fundraiser.
