Police say the suspect abandoned his robbery plan when a customer entered the Sparta Street store.
A man faces attempted robbery charges after a botched robbery attempt at Dollar General on Sparta Street. The man, Mark Shane Anderson, 28, has been bound to the grand jury on charges of attempted robbery and criminal trespass. His charges come after he allegedly entered the Sparta Street store wearing a hoodie.“He asked to use the phone and while doing so he pointed at the store clerk with his hand inside his clothing stating ‘I am a robber.’”However, his resolve at completing the robbery was not high as he scampered away when someone else walked in.“At that time a customer walked in and he walked out,” said McMinnville police detective Stuart Whitman.Police were soon able to develop Anderson as a suspect and caught him at the nearby Scottish Inns.Anderson has been told not to go around the motel or store while his case is pending.
