Hello friends, family, and all Warren County residents. My name is Jackie Matheny Jr. and I am seeking the office of Sheriff in the 2022 election.
After much thought and prayer, I feel a deeper calling of public service and feel conservative leadership is needed now more than ever. I was born and raised in Warren County by my wonderful parents, Jackie and Katie Matheny. I have been blessed with a father who led and served by example, all the while demonstrating a strength that only faith could sustain. My hope is to serve Warren County with the same passion and dedication he did for so many years.
I am married to Candace Womack Matheny and have two beautiful children, Jackson and Jace. I began my law enforcement career 24 years ago. My credentials include graduating from Motlow State Community College with an associate of science degree in 2000, continuing with a bachelor of science degree in 2010 from Liberty University.
I furthered my education by attending the prestigious University of Tennessee National Forensic Academy in 2014 and followed with the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in 2018. In addition, I am a member of the FBI task force.
I have worked almost every position in law enforcement, starting as a correctional officer at the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, rising to deputy, then chief investigator at Manchester Police Department. I am currently serving as investigator at the Warren County District Attorney’s Office.
My goal for law enforcement in Warren County is to bring about positive change. I want to build a solid structure of professionalism. Law enforcement and community involvement are imperative in building a foundation of trust and respect.
This begins in our school systems. I want to reinstate DARE or a comparable program. These programs are more than just drug education programs. They allow police officers to have one-on-one time with our youngest and most impressionable minds. We are able to build rapport and break down barriers with these children and those relationships often continue into adulthood.
I want our children to grow up in the best and safest community in Tennessee. In a world where cities burn, officer public relations are essential. Peace officers should enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will. I want to create the most well trained, ethical department in the state.
Peace officers possess and exemplify the courage and honor that represents the best of our communities and should be honored as such.
As sheriff, I will lead and be the face of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. The community will see me and hear from me. I will endeavor to have sound working relationships with other departments in our community, in our state and across the nation. We will be a law enforcement branch that works as one for the good of the people we serve.
I look forward to a clean campaign that exemplifies my faith and professionalism. I would be honored to have your vote for Sheriff of Warren County 2022.
