Braswell

An inmate collected five assault charges last week.

On Jan. 10, at approximately 12:15 p.m., correctional officers Nicole Cook, Robert Burch, Morgan Kemper, Jamison Merriman and Zach Posthumus responded to a disturbance at a jail cell. Cook reported hearing sounds that sounded like a possible assault was taking place.

Cook asked for backup officers and said, “The inmates in the cell were Tommie Rose Tanner and Kelsey Nichole Braswell.” When the correctional officers entered the cell, inmate Tanner reportedly stated that Braswell had hit her, took her food and spat on her.

According to Cook, “After inmate Tanner was removed from the cell, inmate Braswell began throwing what was believed to be food at the correctional officers.”

Braswell, 25, was to be arraigned in General Sessions court for five assault with bodily injury charges, one against inmate Tanner and four against the correctional officers. She was issued a failure to appear, and was given a bond set at $20,000.
