A man faces felony assault charges after he allegedly threatened to slash his mother’s throat.
The suspect, Ricky Christopher Fox, 33, has been bound to the grand jury on the charge of aggravated domestic assault. In the meantime, he will not be going anywhere soon as he was found in violation of his probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his time in jail.
His charges come after he exchanged words with his mother’s boyfriend, Ronnie Betchel, after Fox showed up at their West End Avenue home.
“He displayed a large knife and threatened to slit the throats of Mr. Betchel and Karen Fox (the defendant’s mother),” said McMinnville police officer Austin Wortman. “He was angry because he wanted assistance in getting some medication for his bipolar disorder.”
Betchel left the scene and called 911 while he circled the block. When police arrived they discovered Fox had already left with his mother in her vehicle. However, the suspect reportedly snapped again as his mother was driving.
“As they were driving on Sparta Street, he began to scream at his mother and at one point he exited the vehicle and slashed his mother’s right rear passenger tire,” Wortman said.
Fox could face two to four years in prison if he is convicted of the felony count.
