The man accused of hitting another man with his vehicle and driving away had his case bound over to the grand jury and his bond increased.

Alan Wayne Crouch, 45, appeared in General Sessions Court on Thursday for his preliminary hearing. Crouch is charged with aggravated assault, possession of meth, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia and leaving the scene of an accident. During the hearing, the court found probable cause to bind his case to the grand jury. The court also raised his bond from $85,000 to $120,000. His bond conditions remain in effect if he should make bail. He would be required to wear a GPS monitor, be on house arrest and do random drug testing three times a week.

According to Judge Ryan J. Moore, the decision to raise Crouch’s bond was based on the amount of methamphetamine recovered and because of his criminal history. His criminal history includes a prior methamphetamine conviction and violation of probation.

Carter reportedly hit Greg Carter with his 2004 Dodge Ram on Nov. 25. Carter was attempting to blow leaves away from his mailbox area and sidewalk when he was hit. He sustained multiple injuries and had to be airlifted. Crouch left the scene and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department teamed up to locate him.

Crouch was located on Nov. 26 in DeKalb County reportedly asleep behind the wheel of the 2004 Dodge Ram. A search of his vehicle resulted in a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and numerous syringes being found.
