The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the McMinnville Housing Authority will be held at the Rebel Hill Community Room. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.


Centertown Fire Dept. will hold its annual Director Election at 7 p.m. The election will be held at Station 1, which is located at 309 Line Street. All subscribers and firefighters are urged to attend. Two directors terms are expiring and will be up for election.

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be taking place from 2 until 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Caney Fork Electric.


Russell Cellular is ready for back-to-school. The store has decided to come alongside Centertown Elementary School to bring new shoes to students in need. Donations deadline is today. For every “Hedgie’s Hometown Heroes” PopSocket purchased, Russell Cellular will give back 100 percent of the profit to Centertown Elementary School so that they can purchase new shoes for their students. Riverside School Reunion is taking place at Gondola Restaurant at noon. All former students and teachers of the school are invited to come and enjoy good food and fellowship.

The annual Holder Reunion will be Sunday, Sept. 1 at Centertown CIC. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Bring a covered dish.

The 41st Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival will take place Friday, Sept. 6, Sat., Sept. 7, and Sun., Sept. 8 at Fall Creek Falls State Park. The event includes Appalachian music in the Village in the Park, over 100 craft booths, demonstrators and food.

Warren County High School class of 1979 will be holding its 40th class reunion on Sept. 28 at the Country Club. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., a group photo will be at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The cost is $40 per person. Money can be mailed to PO Box 8056, McMinnville, TN 37110.  The class will also attend the Homecoming football game with a social at Smooth Rapids after the game.
