Leadership of the Warren County Commission’s monthly sessions remains unchanged.

During Monday night’s regular meeting, Commissioner Blaine Wilcher was reappointed as chairman and Commissioner Scott Rubley was reappointed as pro tem. Leadership is appointed in September and at that time, changes can be made.

“I’m a little surprised, but glad that the commission unanimously approved of my leadership,” said Wilcher. “I hope my second year will go even smoother and Executive Haley and I can continue to work together to improve our commission.”

Wilcher retains the right to vote on all matters before the commission – not just to break a tie – while performing the duties of chairman.

Wilcher won the bid for leadership in 2019 with a vote of 14-9, with the nine voting to name County Executive Jimmy Haley as chair.

On Monday night, Wilcher was nominated by Commissioner Randy England with a second from Commissioner Carl E. Bouldin. Commissioner Michael Bell made a motion that nominations cease and vote by acclamation. Election by acclamation is allowed when only one person is nominated.

Commissioner Scott Rubley was unanimously voted in as chairman pro tem. His appointment was also unanimous. The chairman pro tem performs the duties of the chairman in the event of Wilcher’s incapacity or absence. Chairman pro tem retains the right to vote on all matters before the commission while performing duties of chairman.
