Distracted driving led to a multi-vehicle crash on Beersheba Hwy. Monday evening, with one passenger transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

According to a report filed by Ben Cannon of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Kaden Rucker of Warren County was traveling outbound in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado around 5:30 p.m. Monday, when he came upon three vehicles stopped in traffic near Warren County Nursery, waiting to allow a fourth vehicle to make a turn off the highway.

Rucker first struck a Toyota Rav-4, driven by Melody Lovell, 49, of Warren County, whose vehicle then struck a Subaru Outback driven by Linda Wanamaker, 72, of Grundy County. Wanamaker’s vehicle was driven into a Ford Fusion, driven by 20-year-old Esmerelda Flores of Warren County.

Rachel Birdwell, 80, of Grundy County was a passenger in the Wanamaker vehicle, and was transported to Ascension St. Thomas River Park for minor injuries.

Cannon reported no signs of alcohol were found on the scene, and Rucker was cited for failure to exercise due care.
