Car enthusiasts and those just looking to show off their great bodies, on their vehicles that is, are welcome at the 10th annual Great Bodies 2021 Car Show and Swap Meet.
The annual event is scheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Champion Chevrolet at 1600 Sparta Street and will benefit Families in Crisis.
All makes of cars, trucks, motorcycles and race cars are welcome to enter. It is $25 for one entry, $40 for two entries, and $50 for three. Checks will need to be made out to Families in Crisis.
The first 75 entries will receive dash plaques and the first 125 entries will receive a special prize.
There will also be many different cars on display.
“We will have several different unique cars that you don’t really see including a monster truck,” said event organizer Blaine Wilcher.
During the car show, there will be music, food, prizes and a silent auction.
“If you come, plan on making a half day out of it. We will have good food and great ’80s music,” said Wilcher.
Food will also go fast according to Wilcher.
“We usually run out of food so get there early if you want to eat,” he said.
This event is sponsored by Campion Chevrolet, Smarty Pants, SunDrop, and Dr Pepper Bottling Company. Proceeds will benefit Families in Crisis.
Families in Crisis offers emergency shelter, legal advocacy, transportation, food, clothing, therapy, and multiple other services structured around the needs of domestic and sexual violence survivors. Its local 24-hour crisis hotline is 473-6221 for those who need help. All calls are confidential.
If the car show is rained out, the date will be Aug. 21.
“Knock on wood, we haven’t had a rain delay yet,” said Wilcher.
Wilcher says if it does rain, it is best to call first to see if the event is still happening Aug. 14.
