The county’s longest serving commissioner, Carl E. Bouldin, called his last committee meeting to order Tuesday night.
The county Building and Grounds Committee recognized Bouldin’s years of service at its meeting Tuesday night with a motion acknowledging he called his last committee meeting to order. Bouldin has decided not to run for District 2 County Commissioner this upcoming term.
“I make a motion we acknowledge Mr. Bouldin just called his last official Building and Grounds Committee meeting to order,” said Commissioner Carlene Brown.
“Carl, thank you for everything you have contributed and your mentorship toward me through this process. It has been a great relationship and I appreciate you very much,” said Commissioner Robert Hennessee.
Bouldin says he has served with many good people and he does not regret a single vote he made during his nearly 30 years as a commissioner. He was first appointed in 1993.
“I was telling someone last night that I have been on here 30 years and I have served with a lot of good county executives, and a lot of good county commissioners. I have no regrets and no beef with none of them. I don’t regret any vote I have ever cast. Some of them I hit right and some of them I didn’t,” said Bouldin.
His term will end Aug. 31. “I enjoyed the 30 years. I hate that it is coming to an end, but it is that time,” said Bouldin. “This county, especially the 2nd District, has been awfully good to me and my family.”
