Bonnaroo is back and with it comes an influx of festival goers who travel through Warren County on their way to the world-famous music festival. Bonnaroonies could be spotted around town Wednesday afternoon as music lovers began their migration to Manchester in neighboring Coffee County. The event officially got underway yesterday with a full day of music headlined by a pair of electronic music acts: Canadian duo Zeds Dead and Swedish-born musician Liquid Stranger.
The weekend will see performances by over 150 acts on the 700-acre farm that's become a yearly destination for many. Concerts continue 24 hours per day throughout the four-day festival. Top names for this year's music and arts festival include Kendrick Lamar headlining tonight; Odesza, Lil Nas X, Tyler Childers, My Morning Jacket, Korn and Sheryl Crow highlighting Saturday's lineup while Foo Fighters, Paramore and Marcus Mumford close out the proceedings Sunday.
Bonnaroo originally started in 2002 as a festival for jam bands and has grown into the phenomenon it is today, attracting top names across all genres of music. Over the years, amenities such as luxury campgrounds, bathrooms and showers have made the accommodations more pleasant for those staying for the full four-day experience. Organizers have also introduced other activities such as morning yoga sessions, a 5K Roo Run and even a wedding chapel, the House of Matroomony.
The festival routinely attracts huge crowds from around the world and also a fair share of Warren County music lovers who have the luxury of a world-renowned festival located less than 30 minutes away.
With any outdoor event set in mid-June in Tennessee, the weather is always a concern. Fortunately, if recent forecasts hold up, Bonnaroo fans can expect three days of sun with high temperatures in the 80s and lows in the 60s for the remainder of the weekend.
Four-day tickets sold out but single-day tickets are available at Bonnaroo.com.
