Barnes smuggles morphine into jail

A Warren County Jail inmate will spend an extra 150 days behind bars after he was caught with morphine in his cell.The inmate, Jonathan Stewart Barnes, 29, entered a guilty plea before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke and was ordered to serve 150 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence and pay $750 plus costs for possession of drugs.Barnes was serving time for violation of probation when he was busted with the contraband inside his cell.According to deputy Scott Krofssik, he and other officers were conducting a search of Cell 55 in the A-pod section of the jail when they came across the illegal substance.“During the search, five yellow pills were discovered on inmate Johnathan Barnes’ bunk,” Krofssik revealed, noting the prisoner took responsibility for the drugs when they were found. “He told me the pills belonged to him and they were morphine.”The pills were sent to the TBI to confirm they were morphine. He did not reveal how he was able to get the pills into the jail.
