A proposed raise for the director of Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center has been cut from $5,000 to $4,000.
County Budget and Finance Committee chair Terry Bell suggested a $2 increase for Pettrey.
“Right now, she’s making about $11.23 an hour which is lower than any department head we’ve got,” said Bell. “My suggestion, and we did this with judicial commissioners to try to level some of the playing field, is give her $2. It would put her at $13.23. I think that’s close to what y’all were wanting to do. ”
Finance Director Linda Hillis said a $2 increase would bring Pettrey to $27,518.40 annually from $23,542, an increase of $3,976.
Committee members voted unanimously to send the measure back to Health and Welfare Committee members to be re-worked. In attendance with Bell were members Carl E. Bouldin, Michael Martin and Diane Starkey.
