Forecasts of NewsChannel 5 meteorologist Lelan Statom leading the Viola Valley Homecoming Parade proved accurate.
Statom threw candy and waved to the crowd while making his way through Viola on Saturday morning.
“I’m so happy to be in Viola today with my lovely wife and our son,” said Statom. “Thank you so much for inviting me. This has been wonderful.”
After the parade, a Wild West shootout by was held in the center of town. Then, an evening of events began with crafts, exhibits, performances, a cobbler contest, music and On The Road Again Show offering a lineup of impersonators.
Viola Valley Homecoming has been taking place for three decades.
