JROTC drill meet set for Saturday

The Pioneer Battalion JROTC will be holding the 26th annual drill competition this Saturday, March 2, beginning at 8 a.m. at Warren County High School gymnasium.There will be 22 schools competing from the Middle Tennessee area and beyond. Competitors will be coming from as far north as Jeffersontown, Ky.Events include standard military marching, color guard display, and exhibition rifle spinning from one cadet solo to an organized 13-cadet element.The day will conclude with an awards ceremony sponsored by the Dr Pepper Bottling Company. The event is free to the public and there will be a concessions stand operated by the JROTC booster club.WCHS Army instructor, 1st Sgt. retired Timothy E. Howard said, “We basically train all year to compete in drill meets.
