Morrison residents are being warned to be on the lookout for a door-to-door scam where people are asking for money for the community’s volunteer fire department.“That’s not us,” said Billy Joe Crouch, a sheriff’s department deputy who also serves as a captain with the Morrison Volunteer Fire Department. “We want folks to know if someone comes to the door and asks for money like that using our name, it’s a scam.”Crouch said the people went to several doors in the Morrison community claiming they were taking up money to help pay for a pumper truck for the department. “They were asking for $40 in cash,” Crouch said.In one case, the potential victim admitted he would have given them the money if he had it on him.
