Driver trapped in car
wreck with injury
First-responders put away the Jaws of Life after using it to free a man trapped in this Dodge Charger on Tuesday.

A motorist was T-boned on Manchester Highway on Tuesday around noon and police have been unable to determine which driver ran the red light.

According to McMinnville Police, local resident Yobany Basurto, 22, was driving a Dodge Charger that got hit squarely on the driver’s side door.

Basurto told police he had just finished exercising at Iron Worx and was driving on Shelbyville Road in an attempt to cross the highway heading toward downtown McMinnville.

When Basurto entered the intersection, his vehicle was hit by a Ford F150 driven by Raymond Rucker, 62, who was traveling outbound on Manchester Highway toward the high school.

It’s not known how fast Rucker was traveling at the time, but no brake marks were apparent at the scene, suggesting a high-speed collision. That type of impact with the driver’s side of a vehicle can often cause severe injuries, but Basurto was initially able to stand on his own after first-responders used the Jaws of Life to free him from the wreckage.

Both drivers claimed to have the green light and were both transported to the hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
