An awning at 110-112 East Main Street will be removed by McMinnville Public Works Department with the intent to place a tree in the planter bed beneath it. The measure was approved by city Building and Grounds Committee members. “At the Historic Zoning Commission on Monday, we approved his certificate of appropriateness which means he applied to do something to his building and the commission approved it,” said Alderman Ben Newman, a committee member.Ross requested approval for vinyl windows on the second floor of his building, windows he placed before seeking approval.“We said we would approve the windows if he put grids in them to make them look a little bit more like those that were there before and if he would allow us to take down his metal awning,” said Newman.
