The dream may be over for Wendy Askins, but the nightmare continues. Her resignation as executive director of Upper Cumberland Development District will not slow an internal investigation into Living the Dream and allegations of corruption.“We are moving forward with the investigation,” said McMinnville Mayor Norman Rone, a UCDD board member. “Her resignation will not stop that.”On Feb. 24, Askins was placed on a 30-day administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation by an independent legal counsel hired by UCDD to look into misappropriation of development district funds.At that time, board members chose suspension rather than immediately firing Askins.“The reason for the investigation is to see how deep this thing went, which has not changed,” said Rone.
Askins has quit, but probe continues
