Kidd Ford has arranged for the 50th anniversary Mustang to be unveiled in Warren County.
This premiere will take place at Warren County Fairgrounds in conjunction with the Southern Standard’s annual Marketville on Saturday, July 19. The new Mustang is set to be unveiled around 9 a.m.
“I had to use up all my favors for this one,” said Kidd Ford owner Terry Kidd. “The Mustang is a classic American sports car and it has such a strong following. This shows Ford’s commitment to all parts of the country, even rural America. Sometimes as dealers we’re blinded because we deal in cars every day, but there are so many people who are passionate about the Mustang we’re expecting this to be a popular event and a regional draw. There should be a number of people who come from out of town for this.”
The Mustang made its debut in the middle of 1964, but 1965 is considered its first production year. That’s why the 2015 Mustang is being celebrated as the 50-year anniversary model.
To commemorate the milestone, the 2015 Mustang has been completely redone. It’s available with a four-cylinder ecoboost engine, a six-cylinder engine, or a 5.0-liter V8.
“The development of this car has taken about four years and it’s the first time Mustang will be offered globally,” said Kidd. “The company has done a great job with this car. With its updated electronics, it shows how Mustang has moved into the modern era but kept its sense of nostalgia.”
The unveiling of the 50-year Mustang will be held in conjunction with the car show at Marketville. There will be three special car show categories just for Mustangs to commemorate the event.
“The plan is to have the 50th anniversary Mustang there at 8 a.m., but keep it covered until the unveiling at 9 a.m. to build suspense,” said Kidd.
Admission is free to Marketville, which is held on the sprawling property of the fairgrounds. Marketville includes yard sale booths, craft vendors and food booths. Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Car show registration is currently taking place for $15. Send check and car information to Southern Standard, P.O. Box 150, McMinnville, TN, 37111. Registration is $20 the day of the event.
