Aaron Ashburn scored 14 points to help Dibrell beat Morrison 40-28 Thursday night.

Dibrell has staked an early claim at being the county's dominant boys basketball team.
The Wildcats opened the regular season with a 40-28 win over the Morrison Eagles Thursday - a replica of the result in the finals of the Morrison Ruritan preseason tournament.
Despite owning early bragging rights, overlooking the Eagles was the last thing Dustin Curtis wanted his Wildcats to do Thursday.
"I told them we didn't want to start the season 0-1 after winning the preseason tournament," said Curtis. "We knew Morrison was going to be ready."
The Wildcats, led by Aaron Ashburn and Jordan Sandlin, listened to the advice of their coach.
Ashburn used his height advantage to dominate the paint, scoring a game-high 14 points. Sandlin did most of his damage in the first quarter, scoring seven of his 11 points in the first frame.
Sandlin's early outburst, which included a 3-pointer, helped the Wildcats lead 11-6 after six minutes.
Dibrell was able to grow its lead considerably in the next 12 minutes by suffocating the Morrison offense. The Eagles only hit one shot from the field in the second and third quarters - a banked-in 3 by Curtlan George. Nathan Elrod answered with a 3-pointer of his own, helping Dibrell go to the locker rooms leading 20-11.
Elrod and Jake Jones thrust the Wildcats ahead by even more with 3-pointers in the third quarter, when Dibrell outscored Morrison 12-1.
Elrod finished with eight points in the victory, while Hagan Stewart and Jeremey Boren scored two each.
Tyler Dunn led Morrison with eight points. Hunter Musgrove added six, followed by Kaden Desmarais with five. George finished with four, while Connor Farmer added a basket and Parker Yates chipped in a free throw.
