The Warren County Middle School Lady Pioneer volleyball team (13-3) defeated Upperman Middle’s Lady Bees 25-27, 25-22, 15-10 on the road Thursday.
Starting off a little hesitant with miscues and communications issues, Warren County fought back from an Upperman early lead, then went on to garner two wins for the match.
“Once again I saw two different teams playing,” said WCMS Lady Pioneer volleyball head coach Kelly Clayborne. “Game one was a team that was very hesitant and second guessing every play. In game two, the girls started playing more of their game. We missed less serves and were communicating a little more.”
With back-and-forth scoring in game two, Warren County came back from a 21-16 deficit to put it away late when Marli McBride went to the service line and was able to tie it up. JuJu Pyburn was then able to serve out the game for the win.
Game three found the Lady Pioneers further back-on-track.
“In game three, the girls decided to play their game.” Clayborne said. “We dominated game three, taking a big road win home, winning 15-10.”
Additional stats had Samantha Jennings with seven kills and three blocks, Madison Hollis had eight kills and one block, Sadie Simmons, has two kills, one assist, Elia Atterson had three kills and Kailee Whitlock made eight assists.
The WCMS Lady Pioneer volleyball team plays again at Franklin North on Monday night starting at 5 p.m.
