WCMS streak survives scare
Warren County Middle School Pioneer C.J. Taylor looks hard pressed to recover the rock Monday against Harris. Taylor hit the winning basket in Tuesdays matchup against Coffee County.

It took a last-second shot for the WCMS boys to preserve their undefeated regular season.
The Pioneers won a cliff hanger Tuesday night in Manchester when they defeated Coffee County, 39-38.
“We barely squeezed it out,” said WCMS (14-0) head coach Isaiah Phillips.
After three quarters of play, Coffee County had a 29-28 lead. That one-point margin was still intact, 38-37, with just seconds remaining.
That’s when Pioneer C.J. Taylor put an exclamation point on what was a spectacular performance. Taylor made a shot in the final seconds to give WCMS the win, 39-38.
Taylor was the game-high scorer with 19 total points. Kaden Jordan hit for 10, C.J. Anthony 5 and Dante Elam 4 points.
Coffee County’s best offensive weapon was Jason Vaughn, who scored 14 points.
The Pioneers traveled to Franklin County South on Thursday to defend their perfect record. Results were not available at press time.
