Falling in the championship game of the Central Tennessee Conference tournament as the No. 1 seed for the second straight year wasn’t an option for the Warren County Middle School soccer team.A year after being upset in the finals by Shelbyville Harris Middle School, the Lady Pioneers got their revenge by beating Harris 1-0 to claim the tournament title.Last year’s loss, which occurred at Warren County High School soccer field where the Lady Pioneers play their home game, served as motivation throughout the offseason.Coach Matt Walker pushed his girls to be the best they could be and oftentimes used the memory of the loss as a reminder of what can happen if the Lady Pioneers lose focus for a second.When the final whistle sounded and all the eyes of the Lady Pioneers filled with tears, coach Walker knew the team had accomplished everything it set out to do.“It was a great win, not just for us, but for Warren County sports,” said Walker. “These girls stayed after practice to condition and work on individual areas all on their own.
