Coffee County was the one team the Lady Pioneers couldn't seem to take down all season.
The Warren County Middle School softball team was stopped in its bid to repeat as Central Tennessee Conference champions Saturday, falling to Coffee County 7-4 in the championship.
"Our goal was to be in the finals and play our best," said coach Joe Damon. ""We were there and played a good team and gave them all we had. I'm very proud of this group. They worked hard all year."
Bella Bain gave the Lady Pioneers an early lead in the championship, hitting an RBI triple and scoring on a passed ball to make it 2-0.
Coffee County rallied with four runs in the second and three more in the fourth to take a commanding lead.
Bain came through again in the fifth, connecting on a two-out, two-run double to postpone defeat. Bain was stranded at second though, as the game ended on a strikeout.
Warren County finished the season 19-6, with four of its losses coming to the CTC champion.
"Our eighth-graders showed leadership and character that has given the younger girls something to work toward," said Damon. "They have a promising future."
