The ninth annual Viola Valley Half Marathon will still be run, but it won't be in May this year. Race organizers have postponed the race - originally scheduled for May 9 - to Saturday, Sept. 26.
"Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Viola Valley Half Marathon and 5K are being rescheduled,' said race organizer John Nunley in a statement. "We look forward to seeing everyone in September for a unique run in the valley."
The local race traditionally draws close to 200 runners. McMinnville resident Ben Myers is the defending champion, having won with a time of 1:30:25 last year.
Registration is currently open for the race at violavalleyhalfmarathon.com. Runners can also register at Reg2Run.com. This year, the Viola Valley Half Marathon and 5K joined the Run the Cumberlands medal series.
Further information on the race will be shared on the event's Facebook page as well as the race website.
