The Southern Standard, partnering with R3 Logistics and Mud Bums Family Sports Grill, we will be honoring a Pioneer of the Week throughout the year. Our honoree from Nov. 19 - Nov. 25 is WCHS Pioneer Treyton Terry.
Treyton Terry has always been able to get the ball into the basket. His growth as a passer over the years has what has elevated him to one of the top guards in District 9-4A.
Terry's all-around offensive arsenal was on display last week when he led Warren County to its first win of the season. The Pioneers walloped bitter rival White County 62-43 behind a 14-point, five-assist night from its senior point guard.
Terry, who said after the game the Pioneers "felt really together and in sync" in the victory, was able to get anywhere on the court he wanted against the Warriors. He unleashed his usual fury in transition, where he's a blur getting to the rim, and was able to knock down a pair of triples.
His passing was even more on point and set the tone for an unselfish night by the entire Pioneer roster. He passed up an open 3 early to spot Aaron Templeton wide open in the corner for triple, dished to Keyton Reno for an early layup, wrapped a pass around two defenders to Alex van Vuuren for a layup to start the second half and threw hit-ahead passes to Deashawn Adams and Reno for key late buckets in the blowout.
Terry and the Pioneers will be back in action Friday in Woodbury.
