Put your support for WCHS football in the fast lane.
Tickets will be on sale this Thursday for an Eagles tribute band that will be performing at the Park Theater. Tickets will be sold at Topz Frozen Yogurt on Main Street from 4 to 8 p.m.
“We’ll have several of our football players there and they will be wearing our new, red uniforms,” said WCHS football coach Tom Moore. “This concert is really a positive thing. It supports downtown. It supports the Park Theater, and it supports our football team. I think it’s going to be a fun night.”
The concert itself is set for June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Park Theater. Chris P. James and the Nashville Session Cats are performing the Eagles tribute with local talent Lucy Haston and Eli Eldridge providing opening acts.
Tickets are $20 with 40 percent of the money going directly to WCHS football. Each ticket has $40 worth of coupons on the back.
“We’re about two-thirds of the way there in terms of selling all the tickets,” said coach Moore. “We’re hoping this Thursday at Topz will finish it up.”
Moore said the Pioneer football team has been practicing Monday thru Thursday in the new WCHS fieldhouse, which contains a 40-yard field. Team members have been conditioning and lifting weights.
An upcoming TSSAA-mandated dead period is approaching June 25 to July 9. During the dead period, coaches are not to have contact with players.
Moore said after the dead period, the Pioneer football team will be moving its practices outside and increasing intensity.
WCHS opens its season Aug. 19 against DeKalb County in Smithville. After their opening road game, the Pioneers play their next four games at home, beginning with an Aug. 26 matchup against Lebanon.
