The Warren County Pioneers took to the road Friday night, traveling to Shelbyville to take on the Golden Eagles in baseball action.
The Pioneers left disgruntled fans in their wake as Warren County took a 1-0 first-inning lead they hung onto all game, taking home a 4-1 win.
“I think Noah threw really well. He did a great job,” said Warren County baseball coach Adam Childs. “Shelbyville is a really good team and I think we did a great job containing them.”
After a first inning tie at 1-1, the Pioneers overcame a tough pitching battle with Fann on the mound throwing sparkling stuff. Shelbyville couldn’t hit him and looked frustrated in the dugout as Fann was in command.
The Pioneers started their domination in the second inning, making it 2-1 after two. Shelbyville tried to respond, but the Pioneer D was top-notch and Fann kept the hitters at bay allowing the Pioneers three more static innings until a breakout in the top of the sixth cemented the victory.
Warren County will travel to White County on Monday to take on the Warriors. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
Pioneers win, 4-1
