Photo provided Boyd girls coach Tim Page is in search of a few players to complete the Lady Bronco roster in 2024-25. Open gyms for the boys and girls basketball teams will be running this week and next week.

Tim Page has been instrumental in growing athletics at Boyd Christian School since taking over as athletic director. Page and fellow basketball coach Dustin Curtis will be searching for more future Broncos and Lady Broncos in the coming weeks.

Open gyms for the high school basketball teams will be held starting this Thursday and continuing next week as both coaches look to expand their rosters. The girls will have open gym from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday and the boys will follow at 6:45-8:15 p.m.

Other times are as follows: Tuesday, May 28 from 7-8:30 p.m. (Girls) and Tuesday, May 28 from 5-6:30 p.m. and Thursday, May 30 from 6:45-8:15 p.m. (boys).

"We've had a lot of people asking about our programs over the last few months and this gives them a good chance to check out our gym and bond with some of the kids already on our teams," said Page, who has won 100 games as Lady Bronco coach in the last four seasons. "This won't affect any kid's eligibility in any way and just gives them a chance to get shots up and see all available options."

Both Page and Curtis request that prospective athletes reach out to the Boyd Athletics Facebook page for more information or to communicate about attending an open gym. Athletes are asked to attend as many as possible in the next two weeks.

"Both programs will be gearing up for summer camps soon, so kids who would like to join really would benefit from attending now and getting a foot in the door. We've had a lot of success in our girls program the last few years and I think the hiring of Dustin Curtis as boys coach has gotten a lot of people excited locally. We're looking forward to a great 2024-25 season on the hardwood," said Page.

The Boyd Lady Broncos will be attending camps at Coffee County, Silverdale Academy, Freed Hardeman, MTSU and Murray State in June, while the boys will be going to Van Buren County in four weeks.

Questions about attending Boyd can also be sent to Page at boydathleticdirector@gmail.com.
