Bracton Womack sets his sights on the green during Sunday's final round of the Spring Fling.

By the time Nick Stern and Bracton Womack made it to McMinnville Country Club Sunday morning, they were just hoping to show that they could be better than their Saturday round. It turns out their best was championship material in the Spring Fling.

Stern and Womack played an unreal final round Sunday, firing a 12-under, 60 to rally from a four-stroke deficit and win by one stroke. Stern and Womack shot an 18-under, 126 over the two-day event.

Matt Cotten and John Wilson, back-to-back champions who were looking for a 3-peat last weekend, finished second at 127, including a 9-under performance Sunday. Mark Hitchcock and Casey Talbert, the Day 1 leaders after an opening-round 62, finished third at 128 (16-under over two days).

It was the second championship for Stern, who previously won the event with Zach Molloy in 2021. For Womack, a former star at Tennessee Tech, this year's win was his first in the Spring Fling. The victory was indeed a sweet one, even if it almost came as a surprise after their 6-under, 66 on Day 1 barely qualified the big-hitting duo for the Championship Flight.

"We talked Saturday after the round about we can't get it going on the first day and I told him, 'Let's go and play lights out tomorrow. We have nothing to lose,'" said Stern. "We just tore it up on Sunday. It was such a fun round of golf and I'm happy we finally won together. (We) Plan on doing it for years to come."

Since pairing together in 2022, Womack and Stern have flirted with a championship, though tough first days have hindered their ability to get in position to win. It looked like more of the same over Memorial Day weekend, but momentum started to swing on the Front 9 Sunday and it never stopped.

"On No. 6, I used a little reverse psychology on Nick and - for lack of a better term - told him he sucked. It kind of lit a fire under him and he got scorching hot with the putter," said Womack.

The duo birdied No.3 on rolled off three more birdies on No. 5, 6 and 7 on their way to getting to 5-under at the turn. By the time they arrived on the Par-5, No. 12, it was set up for them to really take aim at the title.

"The 6-iron I hit into No. 12 from 200 yards out to set up an eagle is when we started believing we might could pull it off," said Womack.

Stern added, "Bracton hit a phenomenal shot from the fairway and barely missed the eagle putt. I was able to make it.

"The putting was huge. I made some big putts and I couldn't have done it without the shots Bracton hit. We just had a good attitude and knew it was all-or-nothing (on the final day)."
