Mudbums improves on perfect record

On Thursday evening with only two games scheduled on Hoover-Millraney Field, the 9-10-year-old girls were in action and Mudbums improved its record to 3-0 and remained perfect when they defeated Edward Jones by a final score of 14-2.
Mudbums, coached by softball guru Nolan Esparza, is a fiery bunch. Mudbums started off on a roll as Halo Armstrong led the first off with a walk and immediately stole second. Danika Reno following with a single and just two batters into the game Mudbums led 1-0. Reno wasted little time and she stole second and third base with Aleya Esparza at the plate. A wild pitch scored Reno for a 2-0 Mudbums lead.
Esparza singled with Allison Hudson behind her. Esparza stole her way around to third and Hudson drew the walk. Madelyn Powers drew another walk for the Mudbums.
Emily Stoner was hit by a pitch and took first, Esparza and Hudson would cross the plate for Mudbums before Edward Jones would pick up back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning, 4-0.
In the bottom of the second, Kennedi Pegg for Edward Jones led the inning by getting a free base for being hit by a pitch. A strikeout for out one was followed with a walk to Jessica Young and Edward Jones had two on, with one out. Alyssa Mosely also drew a walk and the bases were loaded for Edward Jones. Mudbums responded and threw back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
Mudbums was back to the top of the lineup and Armstrong led off the second with a walk and wasted no time and stole second and third base. She would score off a single by Reno. Reno was off to the races and stole second and third base as well. She then stole home plate on a wild pitch by Edward Jones for a 7-0 lead.
Esparza walked and without hesitation she stole second and third base. Edward Jones picked up out one with a strikeout. Powers and Rankin followed with a walk and a single after the strikeout and both would score to end the inning with the score 9-0.
For the bottom of the second inning Edward Jones led off its trip to the plate with a strikeout and Lakelynn Whiteaker was awarded first base after being hit by a pitch. Caroline Stewart drew a walk for runners at first and second base with one out. Whitaker was caught between second and third for out two. Edward Jones went back to the top of the lineup and Pegg drew a walk. With two on and two outs, Mudbums ended the inning again on a strikeout and the score remained 9-0.
Stoner led the inning off with a walk and made a quick trip around the bases. Stoner stole her way around and Mudbums led 10-0. Molly Smith also drew a walk and stole her way to third base before Maddox Jones drew herself a walk. Armstrong drew a walk and Smith would score to go up 11-0. Jones attempted to steal third and was caught in the act for the first out of the inning. Back to the top of the Mudbums lineup and Armstrong, Reno, and Esparza scored to end the inning with a 14-0 lead.
Time was running out on Edward Jones and Young was due up and she walked to first but she stole every base after that. Edward Jones was on the scoreboard at 14-1. After a strikeout Halle LaForte drew a walk and she scooted on around the bases after Gracie Gilley doubled to the outfield to make it a 14-2 ballgame. Edward Jones got an out, a walk, and an out its last three batters and the game was over and Mudbums claimed the victory by a final score of 14-2 to remain unbeaten.
