Morrison opened its 5-6 grade boys basketball season with a win, 32-17, Tuesday over the visiting Eastside Bulldogs.In preseason tournament play, Morrison made it to the final game losing to Dibrell’s Wildcats, 47-27.Points leader Morrison Eagle Ty Morton hit for double digits ending with a 13 points out of the total with consistent accuracy during the first three quarters.Eastside had tougher go, as Jonathan Pecina did all the scoring in the first half for the Bulldogs with 6 points. Down 14-6 at the half and despite almost doubling their scoring in the last two quarters, the Bulldogs couldn’t recover.“Both teams played very hard. Our size inside and our offensive rebounds and ability to work the ball inside were the difference in the game,” said Morrison head coach Kyle Cannon.Also scoring for Morrison were Caylon Driver with 7 points, Connor Farmer and Ethan Hall each had 4 points, and Adriano Martinez and Will Davis both hit the hoop for 2 points.Other Eastside scorers were Easton West with 7 points and Jackson Dunlap and Cash Clayton with 2 points each.Basketball action continued last night as the Morrison Eagles played host to the WCMS Pioneers while Eastside’s next game will be Monday as they play host to the Boyd Broncos.
