With three teams fighting atop the standings in the girls 11-13-year-old senior league, every game has increased importance.
The showcase game Thursday was two 4-2 teams matching up at 7:30 p.m. Kirby Real Estate made short work of Cash 4 U, winning 18-3 to keep pace in the standings.
Kirby’s move to 5-2 was countered earlier in the night when McMinnville Aluminum and Vinyl Supplies defeated Mid TN Radiology 16-5.
In the second game, Kirby Real Estate welcomed back star pitcher Brittany Myers, who had missed the previous game when the team lost to Mid TN Radiology 18-17.
Myers was at her best in the circle and in the batters box. Myers struck out six batters in two innings to pick up the win and helped her cause with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate.
Mackenzie Postumus added two hits for Kirby’s. Isabel Kirby, Rylee Hilliard, Jerica Heyward, Rylan Moore, Brittany McKinley and Ashlyn Patterson had one hit each.
Candace Moore took the loss for Cash 4 U, which fell to 4-3. Alexis Hill, Skylar Youngblood and Brooke Murphy had one hit apiece.
Tyla Adcock had a three-run, inside-the-park home run and a three-run double to help the MAVS improve to 6-2 with a 11-run win over Mid TN Radiology.
Adcock’s home run in the second inning kept the MAVS tied with Mid TN Radiology at four, but the flood gates opened in the next two innings.
The MAVS posted 10 runs over the course of the third and fourth innings, getting RBI hits from Larissa Lopez, Hailey Taylor, Karagan Turner and Syndey Scott.
Mid TN Radiology wasn’t able to keep pace, as the team’s final run came in the fourth when Katelyn Lester singled to begin the inning and came around to score on a ground out by Neva Tackett.
By the time Adcock came up with the bases loaded and brought three runners around with a double in the fifth, the MAVS had built a double-digit lead.
Erin Hollis picked up the win for the MAVS, pitching all five innings and striking out five. Mackenzie Pistole took the loss for Mid TN Radiology, which fell to 2-5.
Pistole, Lester, Tackett, Taylor Knight, Victoria England and Anna Grace Bain had one hit each for Mid TN Radiology.
Adcock, Lopez and Lexi Rowland led the MAVS with two hits apiece. Hollis, Turner, Scott, Raven Simmons, Raylee Pack, Emma Cantrell, Kyra Hillis, Madison Taylor and Hailey Taylor added one hit each.
